Ken and Lee graciously opened up their home to share delicious food in a relaxed, beautiful atmosphere. Ken has a passion for roasting seafood and meat and has clearly perfected the art of roasting oysters. The oysters, delivered fresh for the gathering, melt in your mouth as they slide down. Shucking the oysters and eating savory accompaniments alongside friends in their open kitchen is the perfect venue to enjoy the company of friends while having a fun project. I am grateful to Ken and Lee for hosting truly memorable celebrations with the intention of raising money for JDRF, an organization near and dear to my heart." One of a Kind

We are excited to have Steve Childs, in collaboration with the North Carolina School of the Arts, and 6 local JDRF Kids create our inaugural one of a kind piece of art just for this evening. We hope that the Children’s Project will grow from year to year and truly become a highlight of each Gala. The Triad is such a hot bed for the arts, that we are certain this project will become a favorite within the community.

Steve Childs is best known for his figurative paintings of dancers and portraits. He has painted the human form and figure for over thirty years. He has been featured in International Artist, The Portrait Signature, Dance Magazine, and featured three times in American Artist. He has been interviewed by numerous other publications including USA Today, Art of the West and The Artist's Magazine. His most recent award was from the Salon International Exhibition.

Six children from the Triad JDRF chapter spent time with Steve creating and interpreting this magnificent abstract canvas. We are honored that the NC School of the Arts cinematography professor John LeBlanc and some of his students documented this project from start to finish.

Who wouldn't want to take home this adorable AKC registered Golden Retriever female puppy. She was born on December 5, 2010 and is from award winning Westergaard Kennels in Oak Ridge, NC. They have over 31years of experience in breeding golden retrievers. The puppy's father is an AKC champion show dog. This little one has a sweet disposition and will make a great family pet. She even comes with her own brand new carrier!
